The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Monday punched holes in the mid-year national budget presented by Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha on Friday, describing it as a demonstration of what they described as lack of faithfulness and truthfulness.
MCP spokesperson on finance, Lilongwe Mpenu legislator Eisenhower Mkaka, and Leader of the Opposition Simplex Chithyola Banda accused the government of offering vague promises of free education with one hand while taking more from the public with the other through increased taxes, bank levies and fuel-related charges.
