Malawi National Football Team interim coach Patrick Mabedi is today expected to name his final squad for the 2023 Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup in Durban, South Africa.
The team is expected to leave tomorrow morning for the tournament.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Manager James Sangala said the Flames regrouped Sunday at Mpira Village in Blantyre.
“The players started arriving in camp on Saturday night. They went for tests on Sunday before a recovery session on Sunday evening,” Sangala said.
However, Sangala could not disclose the players who have reported for camp.

This year’s Cosafa Cup will be played under a new format involving 12 teams which have been divided into three groups of four teams each. Group winners and the overall runner-up will advance to the semi-finals.
During the 2022 edition, the Flames failed to live up to expectations when they were knocked out in the group stages with four points from three matches.
They lost 2-1 to Lesotho in the opening match before a 1-1 draw with eSwatini but registered a 2-1 win in the last match against Mauritius.
