President Peter Mutharika Friday met Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) leadership where he extended a call on the private sector players to join forces towards improving the country’s economy.

Mutharika said the two parties agreed to collaborate on turning the economy around, focusing on areas of foreign exchange generation, El Niño response and trade promotion. MCCCI president Ronald Ngwira pledged the business community’s support in responding to the impact of El Niño and boosting trade.

He said the industry is bringing practical proposals to the table to solve economic hurdles the country is facing as part of the efforts towards economic recovery.
