The 2023 Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League season will spread to next month following disruptions to the calendar due to Malawi National Netball Team commitments, Times Sport has learned.
Initially, Blantyre District Netball Committee (BDNC) had planned to conclude the season this month.

However, BDNC General Secretary Annie Hanjahanja said it would be impossible to conclude the season this month.
“We have notified all stakeholders that it will be difficult to conclude the season as we had planned because of Malawi National Netball Team commitments.
“Every time the Queens participate in international tournaments, it affects our calendar because we do not allocate matches to teams that contribute two or more players to the side,” Hanjahanja said.

Last weekend, First Choice Tigresses were exempted from the league match against Imosys after the side contributed two players to the Queens, who finished at the bottom of the Fast5 World Netball Series in New Zealand.
Hanjahanja said they hope to finish the season by December 16.
In a related development, defending champions Kukoma Diamonds beat Chileka Sisters 110-16 and Airforce Sisters 59-26 at Blantyre Youth Centre.
The holders have 41 points from 21 matches, two points ahead of second-placed Tigresses.

Third-placed Imosys have 34 points.
Diamonds Coach Noel Mussa said they would not relax in their bid to defend the championship.
“We are taking each match seriously,” Mussa said.
Tigresses Coach Peace Chawinga Kaluwa said the title race was still wide open.
“We need to do well in our remaining two matches,” she said.
