The 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament might have taken place last week in Lilongwe but this is not stopping some companies from joining the good cause.
One such company is Sealand Investments, which has provided K5 million towards the charity initiative.
The handover ceremony took place at the company’s premises in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
Sealand Investments Managing Director Dipak Ratilal Jevant said they felt obliged to make the donation in support of the good cause.
“This is a very good initiative as it is targeting the less privileged. We are a responsible company and we are always ready to contribute to such good causes,’’ he said.

Jevant also appealed to other companies to support the initiative, which aims at changing the lives of Malawians.
The tournament’s fundraising committee chairperson Boyd Luwe hailed Sealand Investments for the support.
“We are still appealing to more companies to join the good cause. The number of needy students is huge, so we need more resources to support them,’’ Luwe said.
He said the tournament’s proceeds will be disbursed early next year.

The tournament was aimed at raising funds to support Cyclone Freddy survivors and needy public university students.
Its initial target was K400 million in donations and sponsorship. However, the figure was surpassed by K6 million.
The recent donation means the amount has now gone up to K411 million.
President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Saulos Chilima took part in the day-long tournament.
