Silver Strikers Ladies have expressed interest in participating in the 2026 Caf Women’s Champions League Cosafa Qualifier.
This comes a day after they clinched the inaugural National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership with three matches to spare following a 4-0 victory over Kukoma Ntopwa Women at Silver Stadium on Sunday.
Following the win, Silver have an unassailable 42 points from 15 matches, 10 points above second-placed Ascent Soccer Academy, who also thrashed MK Academy at Ascent Ground on the same day.
In an interview yesterday, Silver board chairperson George Kaudza Masina confirmed the development.
“We believe the girls deserve to play in the elite continental club showpiece. We want to give the girls an opportunity to play at the top level,” Masina said.

Silver Strikers men’s team took part in the 2025 Caf Champions League after winning the 2024 TNM Super League.
They were eliminated in the second preliminary round after a 2-1 loss to Young Africans (Yanga) SC on aggregate. The Central Bankers defeated ASM Elgeco Plus from Madagascar in the first preliminary round.
Masina said they would engage sponsors Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) on the matter.
He said RBM Executive Director Mercy Kumbatira hosted the team to a reception immediately after winning the NBM Women’s Premiership.

“She organised the event to thank the players for winning the NBM Women’s Premiership title. She also assured the team of continued support,” he said.
According to Masina, Kumbatira gave the team K1 million as a token of appreciation.
Silver Ladies coach Andrew Chikhosi said he would strengthen the squad for the CAF competition. “We need three or four new players to compete with the best teams from other countries,” he said.
Meanwhile, Silver have rewarded the players and technical staff with K150,000 each for winning the NBM Women’s Premiership. Masina said the idea was to motivate the players.
For winning the title, Silver Ladies will receive K10 million and a trophy. Silver Ladies forward Deborah Henry is also on the verge of winning the golden boot award, having scored 22 goals in 15 matches.
Ntopwa was the first women’s team to participate in the Caf Women’s Champions League Cosafa Qualifier in 2023.
They made their second appearance this year. Ascent participated in the competition in 2024 when Malawi hosted it at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
