Mighty Wanderers will face Silver Strikers in Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) 60th anniversary match at Silver Stadium this Sunday.
The two teams will likely feature fringe players as they have TNM Super League matches this Saturday. Silver, who are bankrolled by the Central Bank will host rookies Ekhaya FC at the same venue on Saturday whereas the Nomads will face Moyale Barracks at Rumphi Stadium on the same day.
Organising committee member Peter Masiye said the match had been organised as part of activities of RBM’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
“There are several activities including a football match between Silver and Wanderers. We thank the two teams for accepting the invitation despite their busy schedule,” Masiye said.
Apart from the football match, there will be live music performances from Lulu and Mathumela Band. Other activities will include displays from Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers.

The two sides shared the spoils following a one-all stalemate in the first round match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre in May.

Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba also confirmed the development. “Indeed, we will play against Wanderers. But for more details contact the organisers,” Chimimba said.
Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi said they accepted the invitation. “We will honour the fixture as we will be coming from Mzuzu. We will use the same squad that will travel to the Northern Region for the league match,” Ndovi said.
Currently, Wanderers are at the summit of the 16-member log table with 32 points from 12 matches, five points above second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who have played a game less.

On the other hand, Silver are fourth with 20 points from 12 matches, 12 points behind Wanderers.
Nevertheless, both Silver and Wanderers will represent Malawi in this year’s Caf inter-club competitions. Silver, who won the 2024 TNM Super League title will participate in the Caf Champions League whereas Wanderers will take part in Caf Confederation Cup.
