The battle for the 2024 TNM Super League championship enters an exciting stage as leaders Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers face tricky opponents in their respective matches this afternoon.
Silver have a tough assignment against Mafco at Civo Stadium whereas Wanderers host unpredictable Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium.
Going into the matches, the two sides are separated by four points in the title race.
Silver, who are the only unbeaten side so far, lead the 16-member log table with 54 points from 25 matches while the Nomads are second with 50 points but have played a match more.
Any slip-up for either side this afternoon would be a blow in the title race.

Surely, both sides desperately need maximum points in their respective matches to keep their title hopes alive.
However, Silver, who are looking for their first title in 11 years, have an advantage as they have a match in hand.
Silver Coach Peter Mponda said his charges would go flat out in search of maximum points against Mafco.
“We really need the three points. We are only fighting for the league championship; so, we will go flat out,” Mponda said.

The Salima-based soldiers have a score to settle against Silver, having lost 5-1 in the first round at Silver Stadium.
Mafco Assistant Coach Jimmy Mzunga said morale was high in camp following a 2-1 victory over Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday.
“Our aim is to finish in the top eight this season. We know Silver will come hard on us but we are ready for them,” he said.
At Kamuzu Stadium, Wanderers will also be looking for a win against Bangwe to keep their title hopes alive.
The Nomads thrashed Mighty Tigers 5-0 last week.
Sounding calm, Wanderers Coach Bob Mpinganjira was optimistic of collecting maximum points against Bangwe.
“We expect a tough match but the boys are determined to get all the three points,” he said.
The two sides shared the spoils after a goal-less stalemate in the first round.
Bangwe Coach Trevor Kajawa anticipates a tough clash.
“It will not be easy playing against Wanderers but we will make life difficult for them,” Kajawa said.
Bangwe are 13th with 27 points from 27 matches, four points above the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Baka City host Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos at Karonga Stadium whereas Fomo will face Creck Sporting Club.
