Silver Strikers will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face rookies Extreme FC in a TNM Super League match at Civo Stadium this afternoon.
The match comes after the Bankers exited the FDH Bank Cup following a 10-9 loss to Moyale Barracks on post-match penalties at Mzuzu Stadium Sunday.
Again, the match comes a few days after their unbeaten run in the league came to a halt when they lost 1-0 to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium.
However, today’s match provides them with a perfect opportunity to reclaim top spot if they beat Extreme.
The Bankers are third with 25 points from 12 matches, one point behind leaders FCB Nyasa Bullets and second-placed Chitipa United.

This is Silver’s third match in the space of seven days.
Probably, fatigue might take its toll on the Bankers, who are looking for the first league title in 10 years.
Silver Coach Pieter de Jongh did not underrate Extreme.
“We respect our opponents Extreme and we know it is not an easy match. We will do everything possible to claim victory,” de Jongh said.

Silver have also received a timely boost as Chimwemwe Idana and Patrick Macheso will be available for today’s match.
On the part of Extreme, they are coming from a 1-0 home defeat to Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar. But Extreme should not be underrated as they caused a major upset of the season when they beat Wanderers 1-0 at Bingu National Stadium.
Extreme Coach Elvis Kafoteka said his troops will go flat out to chalk their second win of the season.
“We have the potential to surprise another big team. We did against Wanderers; so, we can do it again. We need to believe in ourselves,” Kafoteka said.
Extreme are bottom of the log table with six points from 13 matches.
Elsewhere, Wanderers face another tough fixture against Mafco at Chitowe Stadium this afternoon. The Nomads are coming from back-to-back victories over Silver and Blue Eagles whereas Mafco defeated Eagles 5-3 on post-match penalties in the FDH Bank Cup.
Wanderers are fourth on the log table with 25 points from 13 matches whereas Mafco are on position nine with 17 points from the same number of matches.
