Soldier Lucius Banda leaves today for Kenya where he is expected to perform this coming weekend.
The legendary musician, who has just released a new track titled ‘Umunyengelere’, said Monday ahead of the trip that he has left early to be practising with a band.
“The organisers only catered for me and, so, I have not travelled with Zembani Band. I will perform with a band from Kenya and, so, I had to make sure I leave early to rehearse,” he said.
Lucius said this will be the first time for him to perform in East Africa.
“Performing in Kenya sends me a new message that maybe I should not completely give up on music like I have always thought—that I have made my contribution. But seeing people outside the country mostly Malawians preferring me in most of their events, it feels good to hang around,” Lucius said.

He said it was a sigh of relief that some people out there still trust him and look up to him as their own despite the situations that he has been meeting lately.
“The hostility that I meet from promoters or new artists pains me at times, some feel the solution is to kill what is already there but when you get these opportunities, it feels good,” he said.
