Sparkle Foundation has built a two-classroom block to the tune of $50,000 at Namitembo Montessori Nursery School in Zomba.
Sparkle Foundation Chief Executive Officer Sarah Brook said the initiative was aimed at giving space to kids in the early childhood education sector.
“Construction is part of our wish to bridge gaps in education, health and nutrition, putting Malawi on the map for the right reasons,” she said.
On his part, Zomba District Social Welfare Officer Christopher Ndaona hailed Sparkle Foundation for the gesture.
“Infrastructure development is a big challenge in the early childhood development (ECD) sector in Zomba. We are happy that they have come to our rescue,” he said.

Zomba has about 40,000 kids who are in ECD centres.
Meanwhile, the school’s head teacher, Agnes Ali, has said the new classroom block will enable them to increase intake as they were admitting not more than 100 kids due to limited space.
