Standard Bank Malawi in partnership with Kumbali Lodge on Saturday night staged the maiden Kumbali Live concert at the Kumbali Lodge in Lilongwe that lived up to its billing.
The concert left no stone unturned as it offered the audience the much needed entertainment throughout.
It was a night that brought sounds from South Africa singer, performer and songwriter Ami Faku, who shared the stage with the country’s acts of Lawi and George Kalukusha and DJs.
The huge crowd that patronised the concert could not resist the performances and instead took to the dance floor and, no wonder, they kept on asking for more.
With Lawi and Kalukusha keeping the flame alive as Malawian artists, Faku also raised her tempo such that people did not want to let her go.

“Thank you Malawi, but it’s my time to go,” Faku said to which the crowd responded with a deafening “No”.
One of the patrons Edgar Banda said he enjoyed the night and that he was impressed with the performances.
Another patron Mirriam Gomani said the organisation of the show was top notch.

Standard Bank Chief Executive Officer Phillip Madinga said the bank was impressed with the excitement the inaugural concert generated.

“This was a perfect evening to sit and enjoy while connecting with each other—customers, families and friends—in light-hearted atmosphere amidst chatter, music and indeed great company.
“Kumbali Live was beautiful tonight and we thank everyone who worked towards staging this show, and all the patrons for coming to support the bank,” Madinga said.
The Standard Bank chief said the concert marks the return of the bank’s positive influence on the local music scene after a break following the Covid pandemic.
“We are back on the stage and will use tonight’s experience to learn on how we can collaborate with the young entrepreneurs in music, customers and arts sector,” Madinga said.
Previously, Standard Bank used to host Blue Mingoli and Joy of Jazz.
Kumbali Lodge General Manager Ian D’heygere said Malawians should brace for more events in line with their goal of putting the country on the map by attracting both local and international musicians.
“Many global celebrities and icons are our regular guests here. They include Hollywood stars. Our recent addition of the castle gardens that offer rustic views underline our commitment to offer an authentic Malawi setting with world-class services,” D’heygere said.
