Standard Bank plc has given the government $10,000 (about K17.2 million) to facilitate the country’s participation at Malawi Investment Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from next week.
Making a symbolic presentation of the money in Lilongwe, Standard Bank Head of Business and Commercial Banking Graham Chipande said the gesture underscores the bank’s commitment to be counted as the long-term trade partner for growth within Africa.
“We feel greatly honoured to be recognised as a partner in collective efforts to elevate Malawi’s and our neighbour’s trade profile,” he said.
Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe thanked the bank for the support.

He said the contribution demonstrates the bank’s commitment to enhancing regional integration and unlocking Malawi’s investment potential for future prosperity.
“We believe that regional cooperation and economic integration are crucial for attracting investments, promoting economic growth and creating jobs for our citizens,” Gwengwe said.
The investment forum will be held under the theme ‘Enhancing Regional Integration for Malawi’s Investment Potential and Future Prosperity’.
The forum also provides an opportunity for trade facilitation and documentation.
