You cannot be everything. You cannot do everything. In the myriad of limitless opportunities, your success can only take shape when you concentrate on what you are best at.

What you are good at will need your time and dedication. If you accord it less attention, you will never flourish in that sphere.

Learn best from the hippo. Writing in the book Strategies of the Serengeti, Stephen Berry states that within the confines of the river, the hippo is unchallenged by predators.

The fierce and ruthless killers, the lions, can never venture into the water to catch it. And even though crocodiles are menacing in water, they know how to steer well clear of the hippo.

The hippo knows that it is gracefully unchallenged in water but vulnerable on land. It is in that regard that the hippo rarely wanders far from the river.

Great success can only emanate from the mastery of your territory. Look at the great achievers in life. They are renowned for a specific niche that they worked hard to protect.

Thomson Mpinganjira made a fortune from the financial services. Jimmy Korea Mpatsa harnessed his tyres business skills to become a tycoon.

Come to think of Ken Chilewe. He made it then from welding. Gabadinho Mhango rose to prominence through football so too Tabitha Chawinga.

Dr Khwima Nthara is a distinguished economist just as Prof Mathews Chikaonda became a household name in economic circles. These people became masters in what they were good at. They did not try to catch each and every seemingly lucrative opportunity.

If your passion is in people, minding much about their welfare, then stick to the political terrain and make a difference.

If science is too easy for you then join the likes of Prof Landson Mhango and Cedrick Ngalande who have made remarkable strides.

Edge Kanyongolo has been a renowned law professor the country cherishes. Dr Ken Lipenga and Prof Steve Chimombo made great strides in literature.

Muhammad Ali became the king of boxing. Roman Reigns rules the wrestling world. Elon Musk is the epitome of technology and critical thinking.

Usain Bolt symbolises running. Robert Ludlum revolutionised the writing of novels just as did Wilbur Smith and many others.

Henry Ford became the king of the motor vehicles industry as Prof John Chiphangwi is more of the grandfather of medical health in Malawi. Mother Theresa centred her life on bringing hope to the hopeless.

Find what you are best at. It might be a skill worth exploring. It might be talent that is yet to be polished. It might be the corporate world yet to unravel before you.

Dr George Partridge rose in the corporate world having harnessed his management and leadership skills. The same is true of the meteoric rising Philip Madinga of Standard Bank and Lekani Katandula of Illovo. They solidified their leadership competencies and that made a difference.

Mayamiko Nkoloma and Wisely Phiri are information and communication technology geniuses that have built business empires within their cycles of knowledge.

Are you a chef? Master your terrain; you stand on the right path to rival leading food outlets in the country and beyond.

You have the appetite to use your knowledge to establish admirable business enterprises? Look to Simbi Phiri and Newton Kambala who built engineering empires.

Choose your better side. That is where your success paradise is. Do not just follow any route all just because other people have secured a fortune through it.

You are unique. You are different. Realise the hippo factor in you. In the other terrains, you will stumble and fall and even fail to rise up.

You were born extraordinary. You were born unique. Realise your uniqueness and that will mark the beginning of your success.
