Thousands of fun lovers on Saturday braved the chilly weather of Lilongwe to throng the First Capital Bank (FCB) Street Party which was held at Chilambula Road.
FCB, which is the official sponsor of FCB Nyasa Bullets organised the party to officially launch its three-year sponsorship of the people’s team in the Central Region, following a similar event held in Blantyre in April this year.
The fun lovers danced to music from artists who included Eli Njuchi, Malinga, Kell Kay, Zeze Kingston, Lulu and Anthony Makondetsa and the Black Missionaries.
The street party, which started around noon on Saturday, went all the way to the wee-hours of yesterday.
Judging from the excitement of the fans throughout the night, the street party is definitely something that patrons of the administrative capital have been missing for years.
Even when Lulu closed the party at around 3am, patrons were left asking for more.
One of the patrons, Andy Damusoni, described the street party as massive.
“This is one of the best shows this year. I have enjoyed it,” he said.
Another patron, Tiffany Mphande, hailed the party organisers for the tight security at the event.
“We want more of such parties in Lilongwe,” she said.
FCB Head of Marketing Twikale Chirwa said the street party was a platform for the bank’s existing and potential customers to interact with the First Capital brand and digital product offering namely the FCB App, Mobile banking as well as point of sale machines.
Chirwa added that the party was organised to give the Lilongwe market an opportunity to buy FCB Nyasa Bullets replica jerseys.
