A window of opportunity has opened for Malawi Women’s National Football and MDF Lioness striker Sabina Thom after Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants TP Mazembe offered her an outright deal.
The talented striker Tuesday flew to the DRC for a medical. If she is successful, the striker will sign a two-year deal with Mazembe.
Lioness General Secretary Arnold Nizza Jere was optimistic that forward would be successful.
“She has been offered a two-year contract subject to a medical,” Jere said.
The former DD Sunshine striker also had a stint with Swedish women’s side Kvarnsvederns IK between 2017 and 2018 alongside Temwa Chawinga.

After the expiry of the one-year contract in Sweden, Thom returned home and re-joined Sunshine.
However, in December 2021, she moved to Tanzania where she signed a three-year contract with Simba Super Queens.
Thom played for Simba for a year before returning home to join military training.
Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili was excited with the news Tuesday.

“This is a good opportunity for her to advance her football career. I am happy for her,’’ Fazili said.
Thom is one of the reliable players for the Scorchers and scored a brace in the team’s historic 3-2 victory over South Africa in the Cosafa Cup semifinal in 2021.
She is versatile as she can play as winger or striker. Her work rate is also good.
In addition, her attributes include dribbling and scoring goals.
