The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has started probing FCB Nyasa Big Bullets over a stolen towel incident during the team’s 0-1 loss to Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
This follows an incident which happened in the 75th minute of the match when a fan descended from the biafra stand where Bullets supporters occupy and stole a towel belonging to Eagles’ goalkeeper Joshua Waka.
The unknown fan beat the home team’s security detail, made his way to the Eagles goalkeeper’s area and stole the towel before making his way back to the stand.
Sulom President Gilbert Mitawa bemoaned the conduct, saying the body would strive to ensure that there was sanity during matches at stadia.
“When we have incidents like these during matches, where supporters invade pitches either to pour some liquids on others or steal things, it calls for disciplinary action,” he said.

Mittawa threatened to ban security personnel who were “sleeping” on duty.
“Let me also take this opportunity to warn our stewards to always be on guard as, going forward, Sulom will not hesitate to ban such stewards or ban them from working during TNM Super League matches,” Mittawa said.
Meanwhile, Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga has refrained from making a comment on the matter.
“Zovuta amwene [it is difficult for me to say anything],” Chigoga said.

Recently, Sulom handed Silver Strikers a suspended stadium ban and fined them K1.75 million over misconduct in their recent match against Mafco FC.
Sulom’s disciplinary committee found the Central Bankers guilty on three charges of failing to control the actions of their supporters, who poured a fluid substance on Mafco’s goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa, among other things.
