France-based striker Tabitha Chawinga scored and provided two assists as Olympique Lyonnais thrashed Paris Saint Germaine 6-1 in the D1 Arkema Women’s League at Groupama Stadium on Saturday.
It was her first goal in three matches in the current campaign.
The Malawian sealed the victory for the defending champions with a clever finish in stoppage time.
Before the goal, Tabitha had provided two assists to Korbin Albert, who scored a hattrick for Lyon.
Tarciane opened the scoring for Lyon after five minutes but PSG equalised in the 33rd minute through Leuchester.

“I am very happy to have started on a good note in the new season,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
The Malawian will be hoping for a good season, having had a mixed bag with the French champions last year.

Tabitha scored seven goals for Lyon in the league last season after joining the club from Chinese side Wuhan Jiangda.
Prior to her move to Lyon, Tabitha had a good debut season with PSG, where she scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 28 matches in the league in 2024.
She won the golden boot award and was named France Women’s Footballer of the Year.
Following her inconsistent performance at Lyon, Tabitha missed the nomination for the 2025 Ballon d ‘Or, having finished 16th the previous year.
But her sister Temwa Chawinga finished on position 17 in the Ballon d ‘Or last week.
National Women’s Football Association Chairperson Adelaide Migogo said she was confident that Tabitha would have a good season this year.
“It is good to start the season on a high. It is a source of motivation for her and I hope she will continue with her form,” she said.
Tabitha was named the seventh best women’s footballer in the world last year.
In 2023, she made history when she became the first female African player to win the golden boot award in Italy, where she scored 23 goals for Inter Milan Women.
In China, she won several accolades and four titles with two Chinese sides Wuhan and Jiangsu Sunning.
