Rapper Tay Grin, who is the Malawi Tourism Council Ambassador is next month releasing a new single titled ‘ Combien?’ (How Much?) which has seen him collaborating with Congolese star Awilo Longomba. Popularly known as Nyau king, Tay Grin, who has collaborated with several artists from other countries, said on Tuesday that the collaboration with the ‘Coupe Bibamba’ and ‘Karolina’ star and Eddie Kadi is a celebration of legacy, rhythm and unity.
He said the song was inspired by the idea of African excellence coming together generations and borders. across “Awilo Longomba is a living legend, his sound has shaped dance floors across the continent for decades. Eddie Kadi, on the other hand, represents a new wave of global African voices, witty, dynamic and unapologetically proud of his roots,” Tay Grin said.
Describing the song as his own creation done in the languages of English, French, Chichewa and Lingala, Tay Grin he chose to work with the two artists because he wanted to blend nostalgia with contemporary flair, to bridge the past, present and future of African entertainment in one track.
“I am always thinking about how to elevate not just myself but Malawian music and African culture as a whole, this is not just a song but a statement, a reminder that we can create global hits without losing our identity,” he said.
Tay Grin said at this stage especially in that he is celebrating 20 years in the game, he wants to create timeless moments. “I want the world to see that Malawi is not just watching the wave but we are part of the wave and this collaboration is one of those moments,” he said.

The ‘2 by 2’ artist, said collaborating and sharing stages with international icons has been an incredible journey but for him, it was just the beginning. “Going forward, my focus is on building bridges not just between artists, but between cultures, industries and nations. I want to amplify Malawian talent on global platforms, create powerful music that resonates beyond borders,” Tay Grin said.
Using influence to open doors for the next generation, the rapper said this is also about legacy. “I am working on projects that are bigger than just performances from large-scale cultural events and music exports to business ventures that put Malawi on the map creatively and economically,” he said.
