Mighty Mukuru Wanderers players and officials have every reason to walk tall, as they will share the Castel Challenge Cup K55 million prize money.

someone who believes in motivating players
This follows a directive from the club president and business mogul, Thomson Mpinganjira, during a meeting with the board of directors on Friday in Blantyre.
Mpinganjira said the decision was made to motivate the players ahead of the 2025 season.
“The players and the technical officials deserve credit for their efforts in winning the Castel Challenge Cup. The prize money should be shared amongst the players and the technical panel members,” Mpinganjira said.
Mpinganjira, who also serves as the club’s board chairperson, presided over the presidential ball event at Makoli Restaurant in Thyolo on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Wanderers director of football, Tiya Somba-Banda, hailed Mpinganjira for his gesture.
“The president thought it wise to give the players a token of appreciation for their hard work. We are very happy and we hope the players will continue working hard next season,” Somba- Banda said.
According to Somba- Banda, each player will receive a minimum of K1 million, while the remainder will be distributed depending on the number of games they played in the tournament.
In a separate interview, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, also confirmed the development yesterday.

“We believe this is a motivation for the players as we prepare for the 2025 season,” Ndovi said.
Wanderers were crowned Castel Challenge Cup champions following a 1-0 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe last month.
It was Wanderers’ first trophy in two years. Before the Castel Challenge Cup triumph, Wanderers last won the 2022 Airtel Top 8 after beating FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 5-3 in a post-match penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time.
Additionally, the Lali- Lubani outfit finished as runners-up to champions Silver Strikers in the just-ended TNM Super League season.
As runners-up, Wanderers pocketed K40 million. The Nomads are also set to participate in the 2025 Caf Confederation Cup.
