Musician Wendy Harawa left the country Sunday for Lagos, Nigeria, to be part of the BridgeAfric launch on Wednesday.
Wendy has been selected to be on the panel, which has players from other countries.
“It is time for Malawian artists to cross the bridge to the international market through BridgeAfric,” she said.
The launch of BridgeAfric is set to illuminate the African entertainment scene and the initiative is led by Victoria Nkong.
Nkong, the president of Bridge Afric, recognises the discrepancy between the global perception of Africa and the vibrant reality of its culture.
The inaugural launch of BridgeAfric will be a two-fold affair, with the African edition taking place in Lagos on Wednesday and then the European edition scheduled for January 31 2024 in France.
Nkong, an associate producer of All Africa Music Awards, said she invited Wendy to be part of the launch as a woman who is doing so much in the music industry.
“She understands the challenges and the importance of the project. She is doing a lot to support artists and African talents from her region,” she said.
