Local women’s football administrators have gathered in Lilongwe for a three-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening the development of women’s football in the country.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam), in conjunction with Fifa, has organised the workshop, which started on Monday at Bingu National Stadium.
Fam President Fleetwood Haiya said the workshop is beneficial in equipping the administrators with necessary knowledge and skills to manage the sport at all levels.
“We overlooked the area of capacity building for our women’s football at all levels. We believe that by equipping them with knowledge and skills, we will enhance the efficiency and safety of our game,” Haiya said.
NWFA President Adellaide Migogo said the workshop was crucial in improving the game at all levels.

“This training will help usw to improve women’s football. Administrators will have a lot of skills and knowledge on how to manage the game,” Migogo said.
Fifa experts Doreen Nabwire from Kenya and Thuba Sibanda from Zimbabwe are facilitating the training.
In her remarks, Nabwire said the training will help to build the capacity of football administrators so that they provide a good platform to every girl-child who wants to play football.
“The women’s football campaign aims at increasing the number of girls playing football globally. This is the first push to ensure that they can capitalise on this programme and play football from a very young age,” Nabwire said.
