Lingadzi Police have arrested two people for allegedly stealing toilet sink sets worth K2.7 million at Bingu National Stadium.
Police have since recovered the items.
Lingadzi Police Station Public Relations Officer Salome Zgambo said the law enforcers launched an investigation into the issue after a video clip went viral on social media.
The suspects have been identified as Chikondi Mapulanga, 35, from Kaotche Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Kabudula, in Lilongwe and Clement Gidson, 28, from Chiwamba Village, TA Chimutu, Lilongwe, both based in Mtandire Township.
“After interrogation, the arrested suspects took us to a businessman at Mtsiliza-Mboni Market. Follow-ups were made whereby 18 sets of sinks were recovered,” Zgambo said.

It is not the first time for people to steal materials at the stadium, which was opened in 2017.
