By Vinjeru Betera Mkandawire & Bernard Mhone:

Member of Parliament for Mzimba Central Constituency Vitumbiko Mumba has pledged to refurbish Rosedale Netball Court in Mzuzu City.

Mumba, speaking at the end of the K30 million Vitumbiko Mumba Northern Region Netball League on Sunday, said the exercise would include the construction of modern changing rooms, terraces and an ablution block to create a conducive environment for stakeholders including players and fans.

“Most of the teams come here and change in vehicles or nearby houses. It is not good. So, we will facelift this facility,” Mumba said.

Mzimba Queens were crowned champions of the league after beating Malongo Sisters 52-42 in the final whereas Karonga Queens claimed a bronze medal after edging Chitipa Home Sisters 47-46 in a closely contested third-place match.

Meanwhile, Northern Region Netball Committee General Secretary Ken Phiri described the season as challenging but successful despite sponsorship and logistical challenges faced by some teams.
