Southern Region Volleyball League (SRVL) sponsor Hallmark Limited has expressed excitement with the progress of the competition which draws to a close at Kuhes Sports Complex in Blantyre today.
Hallmark Managing Director Gift Chidya Gondwe said it is pleasing that the league is ending without any negative incident.
“It has been such a long journey and we are excited to be finishing it after months of action. Many teams came forward to register and had a chance to play the game in their respective districts. Whoever wanted to play the game had a chance to do so. So we believe a lot of talent has been exposed.
“As the league draws to a close, we believe it is time for all stakeholders to reflect on their contribution to its success and map the way forward to next season. Otherwise we believe the success story has been worth it and should extend to the next season,” Gondwe said.
The league’s chairperson Ambilike Mwaungulu said the final results of the league will determine who represents the region at the Raiply National Trophy competition scheduled for Mzuzu from November 9-12.

“We have seen a lot of talent throughout the competition and we believe whoever makes it to Mzuzu will represent us well. The coming of Hallmark as our sponsor motivated many teams to come forward and register in the league. We had fierce competition in both the ladies’ and men’s categories. This gives us hope that our teams will come back from Mzuzu with something,” Mwaungulu said.
Thunders are leading the standings in the 11-team men’s category with 54 points from 18 matches while Cobbe Barracks Ladies top the ladies’ section having amassed 32 points from 13 assignments.
Hallmark sponsors the league to the tune of K12 million.
