Malawi’s pacesetter of women’s football figure Maggie Chombo-Sadik is set to fly to Fifa Headquarters Zurich in Switzerland where she will graduate after passing a mentorship football coaching program.
The programme is under Fifa and the graduation is slated for December 13.
Chombo-Sadik was considered for the course alongside coaches from Canada, Germany and France, among others.
She has been understudying South Africa’s Desiree Ellis.

“I have been under her mentorship for the past 18 months under this Fifa program which was launched in Costa Rica last year.
“I am very grateful to Fam leadership for processing and paying for my passport. This course will help women’s football grow to another level in the country as I have attained higher education under Ellis,” she said.
Chombo-Sadik said she intends to travel to South Africa for practical sessions under Ellis.
“I hope to see her here soon where she can evaluate my job and I also would like to go to South Africa to see how she conducts her coaching sessions there,” Chombo-Sadik said.

Meanwhile, National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) president Adellaide Migogo has challenged Chombo-Sadik to showcase whatever she has learnt of the past months.
“She is the first graduate in Malawi under this program and we strongly believe her education will help raise both coaching standards and football standards in the country,” Migogo said.
On his part Fam General Secretary Alfred Gunda described Chombo-Sadik as an accomplished coach who deserved the opportunity.
“When this chance came through we did not think twice we knew we had a top coach who was also once a top player in the game. We hope to benefit a lot as a country from what she has learnt,” Gunda said.
