Former moderator of Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Edna Navaya has died.
The synod’s general secretary Anderson Juma confirmed the news, saying Navaya breathed her last Sunday morning at a hospital in Blantyre after being unwell for some time.
“I just received a phone call from Reverend Navaya’s husband that we have lost her. She has not been feeling well for some time. We will miss her as she was like a mother to all of us,” Juma said.
Navaya, who until her death was ministering at Limbe CCAP Church, served the synod as moderator for four years.
She failed to retain the position at the recently held election for executive members after losing to Humphrey Zgambo.

Navaya’s body is expected to be taken from the mortuary to Limbe CCAP Manse today, where a vigil will take place before burial tomorrow at HHI Cemetery.
She was ordained as pastor in 2001.
Navaya is survived by a husband, four children and three grandchildren.
