Blue Eagles players have asked police management to reshuffle the team’s leadership to save their season.
The players made the request during a crisis meeting with Deputy Inspector General of Police Happy Mkandawire at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
Some senior players confided in Times Sport Thursday that they have lost trust in the current executive committee.
“We are happy that high command intervened but the main issue is that we, as players, lack motivation. We want an executive committee that can improve the welfare of players,’’ one of the players said.
Apart from meeting the players, Mkandawire also met with members of the technical panel and the current executive committee separately to address the issue of the team’s poor performance this season.

At the meeting, Mkandawire assured the players that things would change.
“We gave an opportunity to all stakeholders to speak on the matter. We discussed several issues and there should a big change in the next match,’’ he said.
In addition, Mkandawire met some members of the previous committee.
Eagles have played eight matches without a win in the TNM Super League.

Out of the eight matches, they have lost six and drawn twice.
The last time Eagles won a match was on June 24, when they beat Mafco 1-0 at Chitowe Stadium.
Eagles Chairperson Alex Simenti said the meetings were fruitful.
“It is unfortunate that we are in the relegation zone. We need to unite to address this problem. It is our prayer that the players will be committed on the pitch,’’ Simenti said.
The Area 30 side lies second from bottom on the log table with 17 points from 18 matches.
The policemen’s next match is against Mighty Tigers at Nankhaka Ground Saturday.
Last season, Eagles finished second in the TNM Super League with 63 points, 10 points behind champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
