Malawi Women’s National Football Team captain Tabitha Chawinga and her sister Temwa registered their names on the scoresheet with their respective clubs on Saturday.

Tabitha scored one goal as her club—Olympique Lyonnais—thrashed Toulouse 5-0 in the French Division 1 Feminine whereas Temwa netted her 12th goal of the season in Kansas City Current’s 5-1 victory over Bay Football Club in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
This could be good news for the Scorchers as both players are expected to join camp tomorrow ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualifiers against Zimbabwe at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe City this coming Friday.
It was Tabitha’s first goal of the season in the league after four matches.
Tabitha said she was delighted with the team’s performance.

“It was a good win for us. I am really happy with the win and the performance,” she said. For Temwa, she has scored 12 goals in the NWSL with three matches to wind up the regular season. It was her 57th career goal in regular season for the club. Additionally, Temwa has now scored in each of her five matches against Bay in the NWSL.
The Malawian also became the eighth player in Franchise history to reach 5,000 regular season minutes.
Temwa said she was excited with her exploits. “It feels good to continue scoring for the club,” she said.
