Today is Christmas, when Christians across the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
On such a day, some people blend religious observance with widespread cultural traditions such as gift-giving, decorating trees, caroling, providing festive meals and attending family gatherings, symbolising love, hope, and joy for billions globally.
It is in this vein that veteran gospel musician Chrissie Kamthunzi, who is based in Kenya, decided to add, to the several Christmas songs, a new track titled ‘Joy’.
She said yesterday that Christmas serves as a reminder that Jesus Christ “was born for us as a Saviour of the world”.
“It inspires a profound sense of hope, connection and selflessness. I see God’s love and promise of Salvation, in line with Isaiah 9: 7,” Kamthunzi said.

She said she has been inspired a lot because “it is a reminder for mankind to put Jesus Christ in our lives” because “He is the King of Kings”.
The song has been directed by Twice P, with studio production by Gresham Mokwena.
“In this song, one can see the reality of our Lord Jesus Christ and the real reason for celebrating Christmas as a spiritual event,” Kamthunzi said.
The artist comes in the limelight having recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music from Daystar University.

Famed for tracks such as ‘Wokondedwa Wanga’ and ‘Mukhale Woyamba’, Kamthunzi—who is also passionate about fashion, having launched her CK Tribe Fashion Studio—starred at a Praise Experience Malawi concert in Lilongwe recently.
Meanwhile, another gospel musician Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera, while celebrating her birthday recently, also dropped three music videos.
She wrote on her Facebook page that she was honoured to share a special gift, the release of the three music videos, from her album Christmas with Love.
