Civil Service United players have threatened to stage a vigil at the team’s club house to force management to pay them outstanding game bonuses.
The players stormed the club house yesterday in the morning. According to some players, the club owes them about K390,000 each player in game bonuses.
Normally, Civil players get K50,000 for a win.
However, management hiked the game bonuses to K75,000 to motivate the players to escape relegation.
One of the players, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they have lost trust in the current leadership of the club.

“Things are getting worse. We have been promised several times that we will get our money. But nothing concrete is coming from management,” he said.
Civil General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira confirmed that they owe players and technical panel their game bonuses.
“We are still waiting for funds from the government. We will sort out the balances soon. We understand the players’ concerns,’’ Chipalanjira said.
This is the second time for Civil players to make a similar complaint this year. Civil are sponsored by the Malawi Government through the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC).

Civil survived relegation in the last game of the season when they beat Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 1-0 at Civo Stadium.
They finished on position eight with 37 points from 30 matches in the just ended season. Civil last won a trophy in 2015 when they clinched the Standard Bank Cup after beating Wanderers 1-0.
