Capital city netball giants Civonets will on Saturday begin two-week long trials to identify new players ahead of the 2024 season.
Civonets Head Coach Whyte Mulilima said the trials will consider players for both the main team and reserve side, Boma Stars.
“This season we have decided to go with the basics. Previously, we used to call players to come for trials. This time we have gone back to the roots to rebuild the side.
“We will identify players for both senior and youth teams. For Boma Stars [youth team], we are looking at under-20 players while for the main team we will consider those that are under-23. Players from other teams wishing to try their luck are welcome,” Mulilima said.
Mulilima said the team intends to rediscover its form having last won a major trophy in 2017 when Civonets clinched the defunct GOtv Netball Challenge.

“We want to reinforce the side to challenge for titles,” he said.
Civonets senior player Rose Mkanda said it is a good initiative.
“We need new players to strengthen the team. Besides that the players must come in for transition,” Mkanda said.
Mulilima is expected to head the exercise with the support from Assistant Coach Tina Kamzati and Team Manager Rabecca Banda.
