Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) Monday dared creatives in the country to submit proposals to tap into the Copyright Fund, as the third call has opened this week.
Fund Manager Blessings Botha said creatives from both urban and rural areas, rights holder associations and cultural heritage organisations need to apply to benefit from Copyright Fund.
He said they are set to disburse K100 million in the third call, with the deadline for submission of applications being January 5 2024.
“This call provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations involved in creative and cultural industries to receive financial support for their projects,” Botha said.
He further said that to ensure the success of their application, it was essential for creatives to familiarise themselves with Copyright Fund guidelines.

“These guidelines outline the criteria and requirements for submitting a comprehensive proposal. Creatives need to carefully review the guidelines provided by Copyright Fund, pay attention to eligibility criteria, project objectives, budgetary considerations and submission requirements,” Botha said.
He said the fund encourages proposals that demonstrate a commitment to preserving and promoting Malawian arts and cultural heritage.
Botha said the operationalisation of the fund is in line with pillar number three, enabler five, of the Malawi National Transformation Agenda 2063.
Cosoma awarded K83 million to 12 successful applicants in its second call.
