The seventh edition of the Easter Theatre Festival will run from March 27 to 29, 2026, organisers said Tuesday.
Led by Solomonic Peacocks, the festival has been crucial in propelling theatre in the country.
Festival Coordinator and Solomonic Peacocks Director McArthur Matukuta said preparations were at an advanced stage for this year’s edition, with both local and international acts set to perform.
“We are excited this year in that we are running with the banner of bringing the real theatre back, like involving Kate Stafford on the Malawian stage. Theatre is a voice for the voiceless,” Matukuta said.
The former National Theatre Association of Malawi (Ntam) leader said, through the festival, they wanted to show that theatre needed to be counted and utilised in the development of the country.

“We just want to call upon well-wishers and the corporate world to collaborate with us. Apart from the performances, we will have workshops,” he said.
Having held its past two editions at Alliance Francaise de Blantyre, formerly Jacaranda Cultural Centre, Matukuta said, this year, it would be held at Portuguese Club.
“Venues are still a problem, especially those that can accommodate all art disciplines. We reached out to the government through our line ministry for Blantyre Cultural Centre but the rehabilitation works have not finished, hence settling for Portuguese,” he said.
Matukuta said they were set to release the lineup of artists Tuesday afternoon.
