President Peter Mutharika has ordered that no health worker should be found operating a private clinic, adding that no health worker in government hospitals should be receiving money from patients.
Mutharika has announced the measures in an Executive Order released Tuesday, following reports published by The Sunday Times in collaboration with other media houses concerning corruption in public hospitals, where doctors are allegedly receiving money in order to assist patients.
He says he is concerned with malpractices, describing the current situation as unethical and wholly unacceptable.
