Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) is expected to hold a stakeholders meeting amidst concerns over poor officiation during its Durata Batteries Premier Division and Division One first round matches.
This follows conclusion of first round matches last week with Changalume Barracks topping the Premier Division having collected 25 points from 12 matches, while Zomba Immigration are at the summit of Division One with 29 points from 12 assignments.
ERFA vice General Secretary, Eliya Nyirongo, said his office received several complaints pertaining to poor officiation especially from travelling teams in both divisions.
Nyirongo said the stakeholders’ meeting will be held at the association’s head office in Liwonde, Machinga District.
“We have arranged this meeting in an attempt to find solutions to these issues. All the teams, referees and other stakeholders will come together to find ways of addressing the challenges faced in the first round. But to say the fact, as an association we are impressed with the way the first round matches have been played,” he said.

Nyirongo added that second round matches for the both divisions will commence on Sunday with expectations of concluding the season by December.
“We planned that immediately after first round matches, we should not have a break but go straight into the second round so that we can finish the leagues in good time,” he said.
Changalume will automatically earn promotion to NBS Bank National Division League should they win the Premier Division championship.
But the Malawi Defence Force Zomba-based side faces stiff competition from second-placed Toleza Farm FC who are just a point behind with 24 points.

Third-placed MMF Marines occupy third position with 22 points from 12 matches.
In Division One, Kababa Academy are second with 23 points while Muluma FC lie third with 21 points from 12 matches.
ERFA was formed in March this year and its two leagues have 13 teams each.
