NBS Bank plc has injected K20 million into Country Club Limbe (CCL) Open golf tournament which tees off yesterday, ending on Sunday.
Speaking during a symbolic cheque presentation ceremony in Blantyre Thursday, NBS Bank Marketing Manager James Chikaonda said they felt duty-bound to make the donation as they are the main sponsor of the competition.
Chikaonda said they expect a grand tournament as many golfers have shown interest to participate.
“This will result in stiff competition among the golfers. We do this every year. As a bank, we look for visibility and, at the same time, enjoyment of the game,” he said.
CCL Competitions Secretary Jack Mphande said the donation will go a long way in helping them achieve their goals.

Mphande expressed gratitude to NBS Bank for the donation.
“We are grateful to NBS Bank for bailing us out. I am sure the bank will do this again next time. Our preparations for this competition have been great. We expect about 200 golfers from different parts of the country to compete. Initially the tournament was supposed to take place in June but we later settled for this time,” Mphande said.
