FAITH—I am excited

Singer and guitarist Faith Mussa, who is the maker of ‘Mdidi’ and ‘Desperate’, is expected to headline Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa)-Malawi 2023 Fundraising Dinner and Dance to be held on December 2 at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.

The Lilongwe-based artist, who recently performed at Soche Mountain Festival in Blantyre with the aim of breathing his musical voice into mountain conservation efforts, said yesterday that he was fired up for the dinner and dance.

“I am excited and looking forward to giving patrons a rare taste of Malawian music,” he said.

Misa-Malawi Chairperson Golden Matonga said they were happy to have Faith perform at the dinner and dance, which is running under the theme ‘Media As A Strategic Partner for Private Sector Growth and Viability’.

“We settled for Faith Mussa because we wanted an artist who can appeal to our corporate partners, members and the public but also someone who was willing to support us beyond just seeing the event as a one-off business opportunity,” Matonga said.

He said Faith has been generous to make a donation to the cause from his own appearance fees.

The Misa chairperson said they settled for the dinner and dance because it is an event where media and corporate world players could come together and engage positively on how best they could support one another for the mutual benefit of both players.

“We wanted this in an environment which is relaxed and festive but that will foster deep and critical dialogue. But at the same time, we want both sides to take stock on the year and reimagine their relationship while also crucially supporting efforts to build our training centre,” Matonga said.

He said they are constructing a training centre at Mtolankhani House and that it is almost at roofing stage.

“We will use the funds raised to complete the project and turn it into a modern state-of-the-art facility,” Matonga said.

Apart from the fun, Matonga said they have also lined up a guest list that includes keynote speakers coming from the world of business, industry leaders, representatives of government and media gurus.
