Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has announced that the 2023 FDH Bank Cup final will take place on October 7 at a venue to be confirmed.
Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka said he would give more details about the final later.
’’It is now official. The FDH Bank Cup final will be played on October 7. We will communicate more details about it in due course,’’ Zakazaka said.
He also said Fam has rescheduled the semi-final match between defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar to September to 24 from September 17.
“The first date coincided with Bullets’ second preliminary round tie against TP Mazembe [of the Democratic Republic of Congo] in the Caf Champions League at Bingu National Stadium.

“Bullets will then travel to Lubumbashi for the second leg which is slated for September 30. So Bullets will face Dedza on September 24 at Kamuzu Stadium,” Zakazaka said.
Bullets advanced to the second round of the elite continental club competition after eliminating Equatorial Guinea’s Dragon FC 3-0 on aggregate victory.
Bullets Chief Administrative Officer Albert Chigoga welcomed the changes.
’’It is good that Fam has considered our continental commitments. This will give us ample time to prepare for the match against Dedza,’’ Chigoga said.

Bullets reached the semi-final after beating Extreme FC 4-2 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time whereas Dynamos defeated Moyale Barracks 3-1 through post-match penalties from a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
However, the other semi-final between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Mafco will still take place on September 16 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Wanderers booked a semi-final berth after beating Santhe Admarc 5-0 whereas Mafco defeated Bangwe All Stars 5-4 on post-match penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.
There is more at stake in this year’s competition after FDH Bank increased sponsorship for the 2023 edition from K90 million to K120 million.
This resulted into an increase in prize money for the champions to K30 million from K25 million.
Regional champions also benefitted as they pocketed K700,000 from last year’s K500,000.
