FDH Bank plc has hiked the sponsorship package for this year’s Pachema FDH Bank Cup to K250 million from K150 million.
The bank’s senior marketing manager Ronald Chimchere unveiled the package at Mpira Village in Blantyre Tuesday.
Following the development, champions will pocket K45 million, up from K35 million last year.
Runners-up will get K20 million while semi-finalists will receive K8 million each, up from K7 million.
Quarterfinals will each receive K2 million, with all the 16 teams from the regional leagues carting home K1.5 million each apart from receiving uniforms from FDH Bank.

Chimchere said FDH Bank was committed to developing football in the country, starting from district level.
“We, as a bank, are happy to provide a platform for players from all the leagues’ Division One, Premier Division and the National Division League through the Super League to showcase their talent. We, as a national team sponsor, are happy and expect to see stiff competition this year,” Chimchere said.

In his remarks, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) General Secretary Alfred Gunda hailed FDH Bank for the sponsorship hike while expressing optimism that there would be stiff competition this year.
“As you are aware, this year, Fam introduced the National Division League and we expect all the 16 teams that will qualify from the regional leagues to fight for the cup. We, therefore, thank FDH Bank for the sponsorship,” Gunda said.

FDH started sponsoring the cup in 2021 and this is the fifth time it is doing so.
Blue Eagles, who were competing in the-then Malawi’s second-tier league, won the cup after edging out FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 3-2 on post-match penalties.
A total of 51 teams from the regional leagues, 12 National Division League and 16 from the Super League will compete in this year’s edition, which is expected to kick off on July 5.
