Malawi’s first female bodybuilder Doreen ‘Dee’ Kumbatira has announced her return to the scene after disclosing plans to participate in two shows in South Africa in October and December.
The bodybuilder has been missing in action since 2019 when she came into the limelight after winning a gold medal in ‘SA Xtreme competition’ in the bikini fitness category.
“I am excited with the prospect to participate in the forthcoming shows namely I Candy Classic Johannesburg which will be held in Johannesburg on October 28 and I Candy Classic Mother City which will take place on December 1 in Cape Town.
“I have been training hard for the shows since my last show in 2019. I am fired up to participate in the shows. I am now ready to show the world what I have been training for,” Kumbatira said.
She attributed her absence to various factors including the Covid pandemic saying her plans to compete in other shows were affected by the pandemic.

However, she breathed a sigh of relief as the shows return this year.
