Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier Division champions Fomo are poised to join the TNM Super League as there is no incriminating evidence that the team was involved in match fixing.
This follows the arrest of five people for allegedly attempting to fix the SRFA Premier Division match between Ntopwa and Fomo.
Fomo won the Premier Division decider after beating Ntopwa 4-3 at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday to qualify for Super League promotion.

SRFA Chairperson Raphael Humba said they have asked for reports from referees as they wait for the court outcome.
“At the moment, Fomo won the championship and earned Super League promotion. There is no incriminating evidence that the team was involved in match fixing,” Humba said.

However, Humba warned Fomo to tread carefully as the result can be nullified depending on investigations and the outcome of the court case.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Compliance and Club Licensing Manager Casper Jangale did not answer our calls to clarify on Fomo’s status.
The five, including referee Alfred Kaphamtengo, Fomo Director Mary Woodworth, Bangwe All Stars owner Mphatso Jika, administrator Willard Banda and football fan Billy Severe, have been charged with two counts, namely conspiracy to commit a felony and corrupt practices and were released on bail.
