Malawi National Football Team striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango is reportedly in safe condition after he was involved in a car accident in South Africa on Sunday.
According to goal.com, the Marumo Gallants and former Orlando Pirates attacker was involved in a car accident in Bloemfontein which left him injured.
However, both Gabadinho and his manager could not be reached to comment.
Football Association of Malawi Communications and Competitions Director Gomezgani Zakazaka said they were trying to contact Gabadinho, who has been earmarked for a recall after missing the past 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“Personally, I tried to get in touch with him yesterday [Sunday] and this morning [Monday morning] but could not go through,” he said.

South Africa-based Malawian senior analyst Benjamin Nyirenda said Gabadinho was not seriously hurt, even though images and a video clip showed blood oozing out on his forehead.
“He is safe. We might get a statement soon about his condition,” Nyirenda said.
Turning to Gabadinho’s performance, Nyirenda said the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets former forward was in good shape.
“As for his performance, I cannot say it has been bad. He has played four games, three of them from the bench, and scored one goal. But in general, his performance has been fair,” Nyirenda said.

Mhango became the first Malawian to win the South Africa Premier Soccer League Golden Boot Award in his debut season with Orlando Pirates in 2020.
He jointly shared the award with Namibian Peter Shalulile who was then playing for Highlands Park. They scored 16 goals each.
