Kamuzu Barracks goalkeeper Hastings Banda made a comical blunder that cost his side as they lost 2-1 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the FDH Bank Premiership at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe City Sunday.
It was a dramatic end to the match, which looked destined for a stalemate.
Banda failed to deal with a back pass from defender Sam Chibvunde as it slipped past his legs into the net in the 90th minute.
It was heartbreak for the KB soldiers, who thought they had done enough to get a point in the match.
The match looked destined for a stalemate after substitute Olson Kanjira had cancelled Ephraim Kondowe’s opener in the second half.

Kondowe opened the scoring for Bullets in the ninth minute but Kanjira levelled the scores in the 66th minute.
The win means Bullets have 13 points from seven matches, one point behind fellow title contenders Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers, who dropped points in their respective matches.
It was a match of two halves as Bullets dominated the first half whereas KB dominated affairs in the second half.
Bullets had numerous chances in the first half but George Chaomba and Maxwell Gasten Phodo were wasteful in front of goal.

In the second half, KB produced an improved performance but were, like Bullets during the first half, wasteful.
In a post-match interview, Bullets Coach Wedson Nyirenda rued missed chances.
“We could have finished the match in the first half.
When you miss a lot of chances, you get punished but I am happy that we won,” Nyirenda said.
KB Coach Kenwood Nkhoma said it was a painful loss.
“Individual mistakes cost us the match but we had a good match. It happens in game of football,” Nkhoma said.
It was KB’s fifth defeat in the 2026 campaign.
The soldiers are stuck in the relegation zone with four points from seven matches.
Meanwhile, Blue Eagles moved top of the FDH Bank Premiership log table following a 3-2 victory over Karonga United at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
Following the win, Eagles have 16 points from seven matches.
Webster Nzunda, Enock Jobo and Barnet Konyo netted for Eagles whereas Lennox Kiwambe and Elias Muyanga scored for Karonga. Elsewhere, Red Lions claimed a 1-0 victory over Chitipa United at Zomba Stadium.
Mphatso Magaleta scored the only goal of the match. The Zomba-based soldiers have 12 points from seven matches.
In another match, Moyale Barracks defeated Luanar Mitundu FC 2-0 at Rumphi Stadium in Rumphi District.
