Musician Hilco, famed for the track ‘Chekecheke’, has said that female artists have potential to excel in the music industry but many are frustrated by lack of support.
She observed that the industry favours male artists when it comes to opportunities.
“We have seen in recent times female artists being sidelined in shows even when they have shown potential and this discourages us when it comes to going forward. The ground needs to be levelled and not only favour male artists,” Hilco said.
Hilco, who has collaborated with a number of artists and has just dropped a gospel single titled ‘Mwayenera’, said the society always looks down on women and that the creative industry has not been spared.

“We can only bring out our best when there is support. There are a lot of women artists out there doing tremendous work but they are not supported,” he said.
Hilco said her latest single appreciates God for all the things He has done to her.
