FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have cleared their coach Kalisto Pasuwa to take up the role of Malawi Under-23 National Football Team coach.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) offered the post to Pasuwa for this year’s Cosafa Cup with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Reserve coach Bob Mpinganjira as his assistant.
Other members of the technical panel include Silver Strikers data analyst Young Chimodzi Jr, Bullets fitness trainer Fisher Kondowe and Josephy Malizani who once mentored the defunct Sable Farming.
Fam technical sub-committee chairperson Christopher Kuyera said Wanderers have also authorised Mpinganjira to join the panel.
“We have finally managed to clear our coaches with their clubs. We faced some delays in announcing our Cosafa Cup technical panel because some of the clubs were playing hard to get. So we wanted to make sure that we get clearance from the clubs before committing ourselves,” Kuyera said.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said Pasuwa will take up the role with their blessings.
“We have indeed given Fam the go-ahead to engage our coach for the Cosafa Cup which we are told will be for under-23 players,” Chigoga said.

Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi said they decided not to stand in Mpinganjira’s way because he is going for national duty.
“We did not need to think twice about it because we have respect for matters to do with the nation. So we gave the coach our authorization on Monday and we wish him well as he takes up the challenge,” Ndovi said.

Fam’s appointment of Pasuwa to lead the Malawi under-23 national football team at the regional tournament scheduled for Durban in South Africa did not go down well with some coaches in the country, with former Bullets mentor Rodgers Yasin faulting the decision .
“Pasuwa is a good coach and no one can dispute that. But what I am against is Fam’s decision to just appoint him without following proper procedures. My expectation was that the position would be advertised publicly so that other capable Malawian coaches should have a chance to try their luck,” Yasin said.
Council for Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) has since announced the change of dates for the tournament.
The regional football governing body made the announcement through a press release issued on Tuesday.
The body said actual dates for the competition would be announced in due course but hinted that it could be staged either this month or next month.
Initially, the event was set to run from June 14-25.
