President Lazarus Chakwera Tuesday returned home from Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where he attended the Saudi-Arab-African Economic Conference and the 2023 Intra-Africa Trade Fair, respectively.
However, the Malawi leader could not take questions from reporters due to a downpour at Kamuzu International Airport.
Meanwhile, Presidential Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda has said Chakwera will address Malawians on issues of national importance at 7 o’clock this evening.
While in Saudi Arabia, Chakwera witnessed the signing of the $20 million Mangochi-Makanjira road deal between Malawi and the Saudi Fund for Development.
While in Egypt, Chakwera engaged Afreximbank President Benedict Oramah, who assured him that the bank would support Malawi’s export agenda by securing reliable markets for the country’s goods and services.

Over the same period, the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority also raised the price of fuel by over 40 percent.
Friday’s fuel price hike has seen the pump price of petrol jumping from K1,746 to K2,530. The price of a litre of diesel soared from K1,920 to K2,734.
