Lawyer representing murder suspect Lester Maganga has filed for bail for his client at the High Court.
The lawyer, Innocent Kubwalo, confirmed the development in an interview, saying they did so Tuesday.
“We have filed the bail application and we are waiting for the court to give us a date on which it will be heard,” Kubwalo said.
On Monday, Lilongwe Senior Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda informed Maganga that the State had charged him with murder, in relation to Witika’s death on September 20 2023.

On Monday, State prosecutor Davison Banda told the court that the State needs 90 days to finalise investigations.
Witika was found dead in a car along Gogo Jenara Street, Area 15, in the capital of Lilongwe last month.
Maganga comes from Chikumbu Village, Traditional Authority Chikumbu, in Mulanje District.
