After being silent for years, renowned gospel musician and producer Lloyd Phiri is out with his ninth album titled Pemphero Silinama, which will be launched on September 29 2023.
The launch, to feature a number of supporting acts, will be held at Bremat Multipurpose Hall, where the veteran gospel musician will also record live another project.
The ‘Musagwededzeke’ maker said yesterday he would have launched the album way back but, due to inadequate funds, he failed to do so.
He said it was tough in these times to hold live shows or launches, saying it needs one to invest a lot of money.

“I spent close to K1.6 million to launch my previous album and, now, I am talking about K10 million and above that. I have had to borrow from other people,” Phiri said.
He was quick to say that, despite the delays, “God’s time is always the best”.
“I am prepared but we still have shortfalls in other areas and those who can assist us they are always welcome,” he said.
Phiri said the album has messages of salvation, apart from preaching against corruption.

“I will perform for close to two hours just to remind people of how we used to do in the past years but the whole essence is to minister the word of God. We will have a worship session and, then, move on to the other live sessions,” the Lilongwe-based artist said.
The 15-track album was recorded at One Heart Studios in Lilongwe by himself and has songs such as ‘Tizichepetse’, ‘Yehova Wosintha Nyengo’, ‘Yesu Akugogoda’ and ‘Worship Medley.’
Phiri has contributed immensely to the creative industry and mentored notable artists such as Thocco Katimba and King James Phiri through his Happiness Voices.
Some of the albums to his acclaim include Nkadangokhudza, Sikuthekera Kwanga, Sachedwa Safulumira, Ndagwiritsa and others.
