Football Association of Malawi (Fam) is reviewing the request from Madagascan club ASSM Elgeco Plus on the possibility of using Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe for their home matches against Silver Strikers in Caf Champions League next month.
Elgeco Plus are expected to host Silver in the Caf Champions League first preliminary round first leg between September 19 to 21 before a return leg a week later.
The Madagascar club has written Fam, asking for permission to use the Lilongwe-based facility due to the unavailability of Confederation of African Football (Caf) certified stadia in Madagascar.
Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka confirmed receipt of the letter from the Madagascan club.
“We are reviewing the request—looking at the availability [of the venue] and assessing the load of matches in September— then we will respond,” Zakazaka said.

The facility is also expected to host the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier between the Flames and Liberia’s Lone Stars on September 9.
In addition, the stadium will host the Caf Confederations Cup first preliminary round first leg match between Mighty Wanderers and Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy on September 21.
Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said Fam informed them about the request from Elgeco Plus.
“We are keeping fingers crossed. We understand that Elgeco have opted for Bingu Stadium for logistical purposes,” Chimimba said.
